In the Indian philosophy, it is said that the PANCHABHUTAS are the basis if all cosmic creatuins. Prithvi (Earth), Jal (Water), Agni (Fire), Vayu (Air) and Aakash (Space) pretty much make up all that we know of or have heard of.
Out of the five elements, space has the only permanent presence in its real form, All other elements perish or at least transform. Space is eternal and hence the most revered. As a technical institution, we acknowledge the serene idea of what was left behind as a legacy for us, the ideas which still light the wick of curiosity.
